Data

Use the search bar above, or draw a zone on the map, to browse detections. Use to clear a selection, and to filter your selection, then download it with the button at the bottom of the map. Click a marker to see its outline and details; click anywhere else to go back.

No idea where to go? Click here to jump to a random location.

Spot an error? You can correct it directly — report a false positive, redraw a shape, or add a missing installation. Anything else (wrong details, a misclassified plant, general feedback) — use the warning-sign Report an issue icon below the pencil and eraser, top-left of the map.

How to use this map

  • Search a city, département, or région by name — it resolves to the exact administrative boundary, not just a rough bounding box.
  • Or click the pencil icon and drag a rectangle on the map to browse a custom area.
  • Detections show as clusters. Zoom in, or click a marker, to reveal that installation's exact rooftop outline and a popup with its details (surface, capacity, first seen). Click anywhere else on the map to go back to the cluster view.
  • Click the eraser icon to clear the current selection.
  • Click the gear icon to filter the selection by power, year, or source, or to hide detections flagged as false positives — the sliders only let you pick values actually present in the data.
  • Download the current (filtered) selection as GeoJSON or CSV with the button at the bottom of the map.
  • Switch between the street map and satellite imagery with the toggle at the top right.
  • Spotted a mistake? Click an installation to open its popup, then use False positive if it isn't really a PV system, or Redraw to trace a corrected outline over the dimmed original. Both apply to your view immediately and are submitted for review.
  • Missing an installation entirely? Click Add missing installation at the bottom of the map, then trace its outline directly on the map (click to place each corner, click the first point again to close the shape).
  • For any edit, you can add an optional comment and estimated surface/capacity before submitting — nothing is deleted from the official dataset on your say-so alone; edits are reviewed before they're merged in.
  • Something wrong that isn't a false positive, a bad shape, or a missing installation — e.g. incorrect attributes, or a solar farm mistagged as a rooftop system? Select a zone or click an installation, then use the warning-sign Report an issue icon (below the pencil and eraser, top-left of the map) to describe it.
  • Curious what the community has already flagged? Check Show unreviewed community edits in the filter panel (gear icon). New installations and shape corrections show with a dashed amber outline; reported false positives (not yet removed from the official data) show with a dashed red outline. Click one for details, and optionally mark it Looks right or Looks wrong — this doesn't approve or remove anything itself, it just gives whoever reviews it an extra data point. Capacity/surface/year aren't guaranteed for these — DeepPVMapper doesn't compute them for community-submitted shapes until a maintainer reviews the edit. The reload button next to the checkbox re-fetches for the current selection without waiting for a new one — handy if you're editing live with others. Downloads always exclude reported false positives, whether or not this is checked.
