Situated in southern France, along the Mediterranean and the Pyrenees, Occitanie spans 73,385 km² — the 2nd largest of France's 13 métropole régions. It was home to 6,022,176 people as of 2021 (4th most populous), and generated an estimated €221,752 million in GDP in 2024 (ranked 4th). Toulouse, Montpellier and Nîmes are among its largest cities.
OpenPVMapper's latest release puts Occitanie at 2329.5 MWp of estimated rooftop PV capacity over 193 223 installations — the 2nd région in France on that measure.
